The southern dialect is strange for those who were not raised in the deep south. It is not an easy read for those kids who do not like to read. Many of the kids in schools today would get so much more out of LISTENING to this particular version rather than be forced to read it. With each read you learn something and hopefully use that knowledge. Later on in life I understood and learned so much about empathy, strength, true bravery and fairness from rereading this book. As a young girl I related to Scout and was so much like her character. ![]() This book is meant to be read over and over throughout one’s life. Atticus stood for what ALL human beings should strive for in their lives. I was so incredibly lucky to have a Dad who had a lot of Atticus Finch in him. Atticus Finch has been my hero since I read this book as a teenager. It is full of childhood wonders and heartaches. This is in my top ten favorite books and I honestly live to read. ![]() I am now 63 and Sissy is 72 years old and still acting! Sissy was the perfect choice to read this particular book. Sissy Spacek has been one of my favorite actresses since way, way back in the sixties when I first watched her in the movie BADLANDS with Martin Sheen.
